Bossa Nova was formed in February 2005 as a spin off from Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute to commercialize advanced robotic technologies as consumer products.
Bossa Nova robots are built on Animotion Technology. Animotion is an innovative robotic bipedal platform that makes Bossa Nova robots agile and lively, allowing them to outmaneuver, outrun, and outsmart almost any other Bot. Bossa Nova robot interaction is powered by a battery of sensors that allows the robots to respond to users and the environment. Internal sensors orient the robots and allow them to walk and run while other sensors detect sound, obstacles and touch.
