Digital Solid State Propulsion, LLC

Digital Solid State Propulsion LLC (DSSP) is commercializing a new class of energetic materials. These devices and "electrically controlled extinguishable solid propellants" are "first of their kind" materials, capable of multiple ignitions-extinguishments, with the burn rate controlled digitally by varying the electrical power input. The propellants are insensitive to ignition by flame, do not produce toxic by-products or combustion gases and are low in particulates. We already have demonstrated the basis for solid-state "pneumatic batteries."

Unlike conventional explosives and propellants, these are completely environmentally friendly. A pneumatic battery can store the same gas volume as a high-pressure cylinder in just 20% of the space, and more safely. Our safe energetic materials technology provides a pipeline of new cleaner and safer products for years to come. DSSP already has been awarded SBIR contracts from the Missile Defense Agency and the Navy. Combined, there are multibillion dollar military and commercial markets that provide phased growth and long term recurring revenues for the replacement of pneumatic batteries, Navy hypersonic rounds, igniters, FX effects, oil field explosives and tamperproof electronics.
