Greener Grazing’s chief scientist Leonardo Mata developed the world's first and most advanced land-basedAsparagopsisfarming system. While land-based cultivation is now technically feasible, costs are expected to remain high due to the water and energetic requirements.
Greener Grazing is developing the technologies needed to initiate ocean-based cultivation of AT gametophytes. This approach offers significant capital and operating costs savings compared to land-based cultivation. Application of automated planting and harvesting systems can facilitate cost-effective scale-up of ocean-based cultivation.
The project leverages Australis Aquaculture’s expertise in sustainable tropical marine aquaculture and track record of bringing innovation to market. Australis is the world's leading producer of barramundi and a pioneer in ocean farming.
