Innovations in Optics is pushing the technology envelope to develop industry-leading ultra high brightness LED products incorporating patented and patent-pending optics to direct and maximize output uniformity and efficiency, enabling some of today’s most revolutionary solutions in light.
Recognized as one of the leading innovators in the areas of high brightness LED chip-on-board (COB) products and illumination engineering and technology, we leverage a unique, multidisciplinary approach to systems design to help engineers around the world bring cutting-edge turnkey optical solutions to market faster. Serving as a contract engineering company specializing in photonics engineering in its early days, our organization was exposed to many challenges as we worked with start-up and well established companies to solve complex problems and to design and prototype high-performance optical product solutions. The Company has transitioned over the last several years to develop and manufacture standard High Brightness LED products and custom OEM solutions in our state-of-the-art facility and at our contract management partner facilities.
Innovations in Optics was co-founded in 1993 by Thomas Brukilacchio, Ph.D., and Sarah Harpley Brukilacchio. Dr. Brukilacchio, President of Innovations in Optics, began his career with both a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Optical Engineering from the prestigious Institute of Optics at the University of Rochester. He spent several years in aerospace R&D and medical device development prior to co-founding the Company and receiving his Ph.D. from the School of Engineering at Tufts University. Dr. Brukilacchio’s dissertation work was completed at The NMR Center, Massachusetts General Hospital, in affiliation with Harvard Medical School’s Department of Radiology and the Photon Migration Laboratory.
Sarah Harpley Brukilacchio, Financial Officer of Innovations in Optics, began her career as a research analyst at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital NMR Laboratory after earning a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Regis College. Upon completing her degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Boston University, she subsequently joined the Vicor Corporation as a manufacturing engineer, where she was part of a team developing high density DC to DC power supplies. In addition to bringing manufacturing experience and perspective to Innovations in Optics, Sarah Brukilacchio’s guidance in the area of strategic planning has been instrumental in the Company’s growth.
