Photron was founded in 1974 to provide manufacturing, sales and service of professional film and video equipment and photo- instrumentation. Since then, Photron has been offering photo optics and electronic technologies to manufacturing industries, the medical field, film laboratories, major movie and television studios, as well as to the military worldwide.

High speed cameras shoot more than that, from 60 frames to over 1,000,000 frames per second (fps), then play back at the regular (25 ~ 30 fps) frame rate. It records the phenomena which are lost between the frames of regular video cameras, and It enables observation of high speed phenomenon and events occurring in a fraction of a second. In other words, the high speed camera is a high sampling rate area optical sensor and recording system.
