Sonometrics Corporation is dedicated to the advancement of medical and biological research by applying innovative products to challenging questions. We strive to provide state-of-the-art instrumentation and software as well as leading-edge customer service to scientists around the world.

Incorporated privately in 1993, Sonometrics was based on instrumentation developed in the course of cardiac research being carried out at Robarts Research Institute in London, Ontario Canada. Using pulsed ultrasound techniques, our distance measurement products have resulted in productivity increases in many labs where previous methods were inaccurate, irreproducible, costly and labor-intensive.

Sonometrics manufactures sonomicrometer hardware and software for use in various scientific applications. Physiological parameters such as cardiac segment lengths, chamber dimensions, ventricular volumes, wall thickness and wall motion is measured by our transducers and instrumentation and recorded and analyzed by our software.

The essence of our measurement technology is small piezo-electric transducers "crystals" which are implanted or attached to soft tissue structures (cardiac muscle, skeletal muscle, arteries, veins, heart valves, etc.) and the distances between the transducers are continuously measured.
