The TurbX expansion turbine is used when natural gas is expanded from high pressure to 5 bar.The system is designed for 5,000 Nm3/h and supplies 150 kW of electricity.The idea of using a turbine or motor instead of a pressure reducing valve to expand natural gas and generate electricity is neither new nor particularly innovative.TurbX AG now offers a technology from the company Innovatium that represents a novelty: the necessary gas heating takes place with a heat pump concept and is therefore CO2-free.Payback times are greatly reduced by eliminating the cost of heating.The TurbX expansion turbine is used in pressure reducing and measuring stations (DRM) of gas suppliers.
