WET-2 Sensor for Precision Horticulture and Soil Science Research

The WET-2 Sensor from Delta-T Devices is designed to measure temperature, EC and water content.

The advanced device has found use in critical applications in precision horticulture and soil science research. It can also be used in both growing substrates and soils. It accurately measures pore water conductivity (ECp), the EC of water available to the vegetation.

When hydroponic or fertigation systems are used to grow plants in artificial substrates, irrigation water routinely supplies the required nutrients to the plants.

Control over nutrient levels can be achieved by observing the water content and conductivity (EC) and regulating the inoculation of liquid fertilizer into the irrigation water. The WET Sensor carefully monitors this critical information.

The rate of nutrient consumption by the plants is influenced by several factors, including irrigation regime and weather conditions.

The WET Sensor provides key insight into this process by accurately measuring the EC within the growing area. It provides essential information about soil salinity rapidly and reliably, thus enabling farmers to take remedial measures as early as possible.

WET sensors are usually offered as a complete kit, which includes a WET Sensor, a handy carry case, and an HH2 Moisture Meter.

There are three kit types available, each with a different set of substrate calibrations. WET sensors can be connected to the HH2 Moisture Meter for portable applications. Moreover, they can be integrated to the GP1 Data Logger or GP2 Data Logger and Controller to observe growing conditions for longer period.
