The MassaSonic® TR-1075 series are rugged high-power underwater transducers, operating in the frequency range of 2.5 to 10 KHz.
The transducers are built to be driven with a maximum input power of 600 Watts using up to a 30% duty cycle, or 200 Watts maximum for continuous operation. The maximum output is cavitation limited in shallow water. To avoid cavitation, minimum water depths of approximately 30ft. (9m) and 100 ft. (30.5m) are advised for input power of 200 and 600 Watts, respectively.
The MassaSonic® TR-1075 underwater transducers utilize the same resonant structure, which has a circular piston for the radiating source that is ½ wavelength in diameter at 4 KHz. The transducers can be bolted directly through their 4-corner integral shock mounts to a simple frame structure. The modular design allows the transducers to be easily assembled into arrays to achieve any desired beam pattern and source level.
Each transducer is terminated with a Massa C1F2 Female Underwater Connector and a locking ring is included. Mating C1M2 Male Connectors are available separately.
The TR-1075E consists of the basic resonator without any electrical tuning. Its nominal frequency of resonance is 3.5 KHz. Massa has manufactured the TR-1075 Transducers with various internal tuning networks. Transformers have been included to generate different output impedance magnitudes.
The transducers have been built with both series and parallel tuning to generate a nominal phase angle of 0 at different frequencies. A separate inductor is needed for series tuning, while the inductance of the primary windings of the transformer is used for parallel tuning.
In some cases, damping resistors have been coupled across the transducer to reduce its Q, which allows the application of a short tone burst excitation pulse with decreased sensitivity for operation when very close to the sea floor. These transducers can be operated with higher input power due to dissipation of some of the energy by the resistor. Massa can customize a tuning network to fulfill any requirement, but one of the standard models will typically meet the needs of most of its customers.
